Verdant Campus

Verdant Campus: Flora & Fauna

The verdant, sprawling and beautiful 12.31-acre campus of the College, along the protected Ridge area of Delhi, is among the greenest in the University. Apart from the area covered by the building, the remaining space can be categorized as various types of green area (including gardens and lawns), well-maintained playground and space earmarked for parking vehicles. The Commerce Block in the College prides itself on a beautiful garden, a water fountain and a herbal garden which has over 150 carefully-chosen medicinal plants such as Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum), Aloe Vera, Henna (Lawsonia inermis), Patharchat (Bryophyllum pinnatum), Basil (Ocimum basilicum) and Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), etc. The college too has a huge lawn developed in the heart of the campus which makes use of the natural topography of the Aravali region and its rocky terrain. The College lawns are maintained by a team of gardeners and other staff hired for this purpose. These work under the close supervision of the Gardening Committee. Their work is appreciated in the form of many awards received by them at various occasions. Given its position along the protected Ridge area of Delhi, we are experimenting with innovative designs and ecologically sound materials to meet our needs.
