2nd International Conference on “Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM)- 2024
The conference titled Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM-2024) held from March 14th to 16th, 2024, was a significant gathering within the materials science community. Hosted by the Department of Physics, IQAC, and DBT Star College Scheme at ARSD College, University of Delhi, the event adapted to global circumstances by being conducted online. Dr. Manish Kumar and Prof. Vinita Tuli led the organization as Convener and IQAC Coordinator, respectively, aiming to create a platform for the exchange of ideas, discussions on recent advancements, and the fostering of collaborations in the field of functional materials.
The conference featured an array of distinguished speakers, comprising one keynote lecture, seven plenary talks, and fifty-one invited lectures. Prof. Jonathan Guerrero Sanchez from the Centro de Nanocienciasy Nanotecnología at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México delivered the keynote address, setting the tone for the conference by discussing the latest breakthroughs and future directions in functional materials research.
Attendees from various countries, including the Philippines, Austria, Mexico, the USA, Taiwan, South Korea, and others, contributed to the diverse exchange of ideas and perspectives. With over 300 participants, the conference provided an inclusive platform for knowledge sharing and networking.
Throughout the three-day event, more than 200 oral presentations covered a broad spectrum of topics within the field of functional materials. The conference commenced with welcoming of the guest by the principal of the college and IQAC coordinator, the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony addressed the audience followed by keynote address by prominent business figure who highlighted India's remarkable economic growth and its transformation into a global business hub. Speakers emphasized India's diverse strengths, including a large and dynamic workforce, a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, and a rapidly expanding consumer market.
A series of panel discussions delved into various aspects of India's business landscape, covering topics such as innovation and entrepreneurship, global market expansion, sustainable business practices, and policy frameworks. Experts shared insights into the unique characteristics of the Indian business model, which emphasizes adaptability, resilience, and frugal innovation.
One of the focal points of the conference was India's emergence as a leader in technology and digital innovation. Panelists discussed the transformative impact of digital technologies on Indian businesses, highlighting success stories in e-commerce, fintech, healthcare, and agritech. They also explored opportunities for collaboration between Indian startups and global corporations to drive innovation and create value.
Moreover, discussions revolved around India's growing influence in global trade and investment. The paper presented by participants and Experts analyzed India's trade policies, bilateral agreements, and investment incentives, offering strategic recommendations to enhance India's competitive eness on the world stage. Throughout the conference, there was a palpable sense of optimism about India's future as a global business superpower. There were 180 participants, 42 paper presenters 19 Online and 23 offline modes in the conference .Attendees recognized the need for continued investment in education, infrastructure, and research and development to sustain India's economic momentum and address emerging challenges.
In the valedictory session, the conference ended with addressing by guest speaker, certificate distribution to paper presenter and organizing committee members and vote of thanks by conference convener.

Two Days National Seminar on “AI in Biological Sciences-2024"
The Two Day National Seminar on AI in Biological Sciences was organized by Bionomie (society of Botany and Zoology) under the aegis of IQAC and DBT star college scheme from February 27-28, 2024. It was a platform for faculties, scientists, and students to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and biological sciences in aspects of biological research and healthcare. The participants mainly included undergraduate students from Delhi University also from other institutes. Faculties also participated in the seminar.
The seminar delved deep into the realms of AI-powered advancements in biological research from genomics to drug discovery, from bioinformatics to personalized medicine. The opening lecture by Dr. Saurabh Sharma introduced the audience to the world of AI and its significant role in medicine. Dr. Shailesh talked about the role AI in identifying therapeutic peptides. Dr. Irengbam Rocky talked about integrating networking for identifying biomarkers for diseases. Role of metabolomes was discussed by Dr. Garuav Ahuja and its potential application in AI. Dr. Dinesh Gupta introduced the concept of integrating imaging techniques with AI.
On the second day, Dr. Gitanjali Yadav and Prof. Peter-Murray Rust further explained the various aspects AI and also introduced the participants to semantic Climate. It was followed by a panel discussion on AI: Threat or boon to Education. Panelists included Prof. Peter-Murray Rust, Prof. Marwa Halamy, Simon Worthington, Gitanjali Yadav and moderated by Dr. Swati M. Biswas. The participants enthusiastically participated in panel discussion. It was followed by poster presentation by students. The valedictory session included invited talk of Dr. Viswajanini Sattegiri who explained the role of traditional knowledge of India and its preservation. The session concluded by vote of thanks by the convener.
International Conference on Chemical Biological Sciences (ICCBS)-2024
International Conference on Chemical Biological Sciences, was held in online mode from 27th to 29th January 2024, was a significant gathering that attracted nearly 300 participants from various backgrounds, including experts, researchers, and academics. The conference featured 38 invited speakers from countries including the USA, Brazil, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Japan, UAE, and Canada, enriching the discussions with their expertise. Around 200 oral presentations were delivered, covering a wide range of topics within the chemical and biological sciences domain. The event also included the recognition of excellence through 12 Best Oral Presentation Awards, acknowledging outstanding contributions and innovative research.
The conference was convened by Prof. Prashant Singh (ARSD College, University of Delhi), Prof. Nagendra Kaushik (Kwangwoon University), Prof. Indra Bahadur (North-west University), Dr. Garima Pandey (SRM IST Modinagar), and Prof. Pooja Bhagat (AND College, University of Delhi), who played a crucial role in organizing this event. Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, North-West University, Acharya Narendra Dev College, SRM-IST Delhi-NCR campus, and Kwangwoon University collaborated to organize this event and played a crucial role in shaping the conference's diverse and comprehensive discussion landscape.
Furthermore, prominent journals ChemBioChem and Chemistry and Biodiversity of Wiley Publisher has goven consent for special collection dedicated to the conference, enhancing the dissemination of cutting-edge research and fostering ongoing collaboration within the scientific community. The conference covered key themes, including Advances in Chemical Synthesis, Biological Systems and Applications, Environmental Impact and Sustainability, Computational Modeling and Data Analysis, and Emerging Technologies and Innovations, and it comprehensively explored the subject matter.
Insights gained from discussions during the conference revealed emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the chemical and biological sciences, setting the stage for future collaborations, research endeavors, and advancements. 2nd International Conference on “Advanced Functional Materials and Devices” (AFMD)-2023
2nd International Conference on “Advanced Functional Materials and Devices” (AFMD-2023). AFMD-2023 was organized by the Department of Physics and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, University of Delhi, New Delhi, India from 13-15 March 2023 via online mode after the successful completion of AFMD-2021. The AFMD 2023 conference was a remarkable event that featured 29 Invited Lectures delivered by renowned researchers. It also received an overwhelming response with 196 abstracts submitted for oral and poster presentations from all around the world. The conference commenced with an inaugural ceremony led by the esteemed Chief Guest, Shri Pawan Jaggi, Chairman of ARSD College, followed by a plenary talk by Prof. Hoe Tan from the Australian National University, Australia. I extend my sincere appreciation to all the invited speakers and participants who shared their valuable knowledge and research findings during this event. The conference theme was highly relevant to the advancements in technology that we witness in the present day. Researchers from various corners of the globe have been diligently working towards the progress of technology for the betterment of society. Their dedication and efficiency have been commendable, and their contributions are instrumental in shaping the future of technological innovation for the benefit of all. Total 100 abstract submissions were received from all over the world including countries like Singapore, USA, Mexico, South Korea etc. from which 75 full-paper submissions materialized for the publication in Spinger sponsored proceeding books titled “Recent Advances in Functional Materials and Devices” and “Advanced functional materials for a sustainable environment”.

Functional materials are effectively being utilized in the area of human development through several technologies. In the light of the enormous advancement and potential use in various applications of functional materials, international and national conferences have been organized to bring together scientists, researchers, faculty as well as experts from Industries with collective interests to discuss the recent advancement of multifunctional materials. Department of Physics & IQAC of the College, successfully organized Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM-2022) from 14-16th March 2022, in an online mode.
A total of 344 participants from all over the globe participated in the international conference. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. P.L. Uniyal, University Representative of the College Governing Body and Prof. Gyantosh Kumar Jha, Principal of the College. This was followed by a keynote lecture by Prof. Oscar Raymond Herrera, CONACyT, Mexico. There were 5 plenary sessions, 29 invited talks, 153 oral presentations and 129 poster presentations in the 3-day international conference. The Valedictory Session was presided over by Shri Pawan Jaggi, Chairman, College Governing Body and Prof. S. A. Hashmi, Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi.

International Conference on “Advanced Functional Materials and Devices” (AFMD-2021). AFMD-2021 was organized by the Department of Physics and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, University of Delhi, New Delhi, India from 3-5 March 2021 via online mode. AFMD 2021 was enriched with 20 Invited Lectures from eminent researchers and also received 94 abstracts for oral and poster presentations from all over the world. The conference began with the inaugural ceremony by respected Guests of Honour, Prof. Vinay Gupta (Dean, FOT, University of Delhi), Prof. Prem Lal Uniyal, Treasurer, ARSD College and Chief Guest, Prof. Pradeep Burma, Chairman, ARSD College followed by plenary talk by Prof. R. S. Katiyar, University of Pureto Rico, USA. Theme of the conference was very relevant to the present day of technology. Researchers from each and every corner of the globe are working very efficiently in the advancement of the technology for the benefit of the common people. The conference consisted of invited as well as technical sessions along with the discussions with eminent speakers covering a wide range of topics: multifunctional materials, 2D materials, biomaterials, materials for environmental studies, DFT and solar simulation of materials, perovskite and double perovskite materials, luminescent materials, smart materials, materials for energy conversion and storage, smart materials, advanced functional materials, polymeric materials, composites, liquid crystals, materials for sustainable development, nanomaterials and thin films, smart devices and quantum dots synthesis technique, and characterization tools with application in smart devices. On this occasion one plenary speaker, 2 keynote speakers and 20 invited speakers delivered their outstanding research works in the various fields of material science. There were 54 oral presentations and about 40 poster presentations by participants which brought great opportunity to share their recent research work among each other graciously. Total 94 abstract submissions were received from all over the world including countries like Singapore, USA, Mexico, Iran, South Korea, Japan etc. from which 62 full-paper submissions materialized for the publication in Spinger sponsored proceeding book titled “Advances in Functional Materials”.

National Conference on “Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM)- 2020
Atma Ram Santan Dharma College, University of Delhi, hosted a two-day Online National conference titled "Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM-2020)" on November 05-06, 2020, under the auspices of the Department of Physics, IQAC, and Star College Scheme (GOI) of the college. Dr. Gyantosh Kumar Jha, the Principal, extended a warm welcome to the keynote speakers, Prof. Vinay Gupta, Prof. Sevi Murugavel, and Prof. Amita Chandra from the Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi. Dr. Jha inspired the participants with his visionary thoughts in the online mode. Invited speakers from prestigious academic and research institutions from India and abroad, including the USA, Mexico, China, and Japan, actively participated in the event.
The seminar garnered robust participation, with more than 150 faculty members, researchers, and students from around the world. The conference aimed to bridge the gap between fundamental research and potential applications of functional materials research. It covered a diverse range of topics such as multifunctional materials, biomaterials, DFT and solar simulation of Materials, perovskite and double perovskite materials, luminescent materials, smart materials, materials for energy conversion and storage, advanced functional materials, materials in agriculture, polymeric materials, composites, liquid crystals, materials for sustainable development, nanomaterials and thin films, smart devices, and quantum dots synthesis techniques and characterization tools with applications in smart devices.
Additionally, the conference received approximately 55 full-length research papers through Materials Today Proceedings (Scopus Indexed Elsevier Journal) under the special issue SI:RAFM-2020 from researchers worldwide who actively participated in the conference. The resounding success of RAFM-2020 has prompted the College to establish it as an annual event, continuing to serve as a valuable platform for advancing discussions and collaborations in the field of functional materials research.
