Department of Sanskrit

The Department of Sanskrit at ARSD College is one of the oldest departments of the College. It came into being in the year of 1959, with the establishment of the College in the same year.

The department is dedicated to provide qualitative education with a thirst to nurture academic excellence and critical inquiry. Sanskrit texts are the main source of our ancient culture, literature, grammar, science, and philosophy. This language has preserved our Indian intellectual traditions and thought.

We at ARSD College strive to work for the propagation and dissemination of this language among the new generation learners through whom the ancient legacy can be well-looked-after. The department organizes Sanskrit quiz, debate, speech and shloka singing competitions to further enrich the teaching-learning process.

Our Objectives

To promote the study and appreciation of Sanskrit language and literature by providing quality education and fostering an understanding of India's rich cultural, philosophical, and intellectual heritage preserved in Sanskrit texts.

To preserve, disseminate, and advance traditional knowledge systems by encouraging students to engage with ancient Indian scriptures, scientific works, and literary traditions, while relating them to contemporary academic and social contexts.

To enrich the teaching-learning process and cultivate students' linguistic and cultural awareness, the Department regularly organizes a variety of academic and co-curricular activities, including Sanskrit quizzes, debates, shloka recitation and singing competitions, seminars, and workshops.
